Referral Officer – Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and organised Referral Officer to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting safeguarding services and making a positive difference to children, young people and their families.

Working within a busy, fast-paced environment, you will provide high-quality administrative support to the MASH Referral Desk, acting as a key point of contact for professionals and members of the public. You will ensure enquiries are handled efficiently, sensitively and professionally, helping to support effective safeguarding decisions and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

       

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the MASH Referral Desk.
       

  • Respond to telephone and face-to-face enquiries in a professional, courteous and customer-focused manner.
       

  • Screen incoming enquiries, using initiative and sound judgement to provide information or direct referrals to the appropriate officer.
       

  • Accurately record and process referrals and enquiries in line with safeguarding procedures.
       

  • Maintain effective communication with a wide range of internal teams and external partner agencies.
       

  • Support the efficient operation of the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub by ensuring referrals are managed promptly and accurately.
       

  • Prioritise competing demands while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service.
       

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment focused on delivering the best outcomes for children and families.

Requirements

       

  • Previous experience delivering excellent customer service.
       

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
       

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
       

  • Ability to use initiative and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
       

  • Experience working within a busy administrative or customer service environment.
       

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
       

  • A commitment to supporting high-quality safeguarding services for children and families.
