Locum Social Worker – MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub)
Role Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Locum Social Worker to join a busy Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) within Children’s and Families Services. This is a full-time, 36-hour per week position offered on an initial 6-month contract, providing the opportunity to work within a fast-paced, multi-agency environment where safeguarding children is the highest priority.
The successful candidate will be responsible for screening referrals, undertaking information gathering, analysing risk, and making threshold decisions to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time. This role requires confident decision-making, excellent partnership working and a sound understanding of statutory children’s social care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming referrals relating to children and families within the MASH service.
- Gather and analyse information from a range of partner agencies to assess levels of risk.
- Apply statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures to make informed threshold decisions.
- Work collaboratively with health, education, police and other partner agencies to safeguard children.
- Identify children requiring statutory intervention and ensure timely progression to the appropriate service.
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in accordance with legislative and organisational standards.
- Contribute to effective safeguarding decision-making within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
About You
You will be an experienced Children’s Social Worker with previous MASH experience and the ability to confidently assess risk within a high-volume safeguarding environment. You will possess excellent analytical skills, work well under pressure, and communicate effectively with professionals across multiple agencies.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience within Children’s Services.
- Previous experience working within a MASH team is essential.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding thresholds and statutory children’s legislation.
- Excellent assessment, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multi-agency environment.
