Occupational Therapist – Early Intervention Integrated Services
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North West Social Services. Based with Wigan Council, this role sits within the Early Intervention Integrated Services, supporting both adults and children to maximise independence, improve wellbeing, and remain safe within their homes and communities.
Working across Reablement, Equipment and Adaptations, and Assistive Technology services, you will deliver specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for individuals with physical, learning, developmental, and mental health needs. As part of the innovative Healthier Wigan Partnership, you will work collaboratively with health, housing, community, and social care colleagues to provide personalised, strengths-based support that empowers individuals to achieve their goals and maintain independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for adults, children, and young people experiencing reduced independence in activities of daily living.
- Develop and implement person-centred, strengths-based intervention plans to maximise independence and wellbeing.
- Deliver reablement programmes that promote recovery, confidence, and functional independence.
- Assess for and prescribe assistive technology, specialist equipment, minor adaptations, and major adaptations where appropriate.
- Provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health needs.
- Assess and support babies, children, and young people with complex physical, developmental, and learning needs.
- Recommend home adaptations to enable children and adults to live safely and independently within their own homes.
- Manage complex cases using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based Occupational Therapy practice.
- Work collaboratively with Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapists and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver integrated services.
- Promote strengths-based and asset-based approaches that enable people to engage with their communities and achieve meaningful outcomes.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to high-quality, effective service delivery.
- Build strong partnerships with health, housing, community, and voluntary sector organisations to support integrated care.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a background in Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, Community Occupational Therapy, or Integrated Care. You will be passionate about delivering strengths-based interventions and supporting people of all ages to live independently within their communities.
You will possess excellent assessment, communication, and clinical reasoning skills, together with the ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience working within Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, or Community Occupational Therapy.
- Experience assessing for equipment provision, assistive technology, and housing adaptations.
- Knowledge of reablement and strengths-based practice.
- Experience working with adults and/or children with physical, developmental, learning, or mental health needs.
- Strong assessment, report-writing, and case management skills.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary partnership-working abilities.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and deliver person-centred interventions independently.
