Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within North West Social Services. Based with Wigan Council, this role sits within the Early Intervention Integrated Services, supporting both adults and children to maximise independence, improve wellbeing, and remain safely within their homes and communities.

Working across Reablement, Equipment and Adaptations, and Assistive Technology services, you will provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for individuals with physical, learning, developmental, and mental health needs. This is an excellent opportunity to join an integrated service committed to delivering personalised, strengths-based support and promoting positive outcomes across the wider Healthier Wigan Partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement person-centred, outcome-focused intervention plans to maximise independence and wellbeing.
  • Assess for and arrange equipment, assistive technology, minor adaptations, and major adaptations.
  • Deliver reablement interventions and support individuals to regain or maintain independence.
  • Provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and mental health needs.
  • Assess and support children and young people with complex physical, developmental, and learning needs.
  • Recommend and coordinate adaptations within the home environment to support safe and effective care.
  • Manage complex cases and formulate interventions aimed at reducing the impact of disability.
  • Work collaboratively with Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapists and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Contribute to integrated care planning across health, social care, housing, and community services.
  • Support families and carers by providing advice, guidance, and practical solutions.
  • Promote strengths-based and asset-based approaches to service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments, reports, and documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in assessment, equipment provision, adaptations, and community-based Occupational Therapy practice. You will be comfortable working with both adults and children and confident managing a varied and complex caseload.

You will have excellent communication and partnership-working skills and be committed to delivering personalised, strengths-based interventions that promote independence and improve quality of life.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience assessing and providing equipment and adaptations for adults and children.
  • Knowledge of reablement, assistive technology, and strengths-based practice.
