Brief Job Overview

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum opportunity within the Isle of Man NHS. Based at Nobles Hospital, this role offers the opportunity to work within a busy acute hospital environment, supporting patients on medical wards through rehabilitation, discharge planning, and functional assessment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping patients maximise their independence, recover functional abilities, and achieve safe and timely discharge from hospital. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will provide high-quality Occupational Therapy interventions across a varied medical caseload.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments for patients on acute medical wards.
• Provide rehabilitation interventions to improve functional ability and independence.
• Assess patients’ physical, cognitive, and environmental needs to support discharge planning.
• Develop and implement person-centred treatment plans based on clinical assessment and evidence-based practice.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge arrangements.
• Recommend and arrange equipment and support services where required.
• Support safe and timely hospital discharges through effective assessment and care planning.
• Monitor patient progress and adapt interventions to meet changing needs.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC and organisational standards.
• Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality Occupational Therapy service within the acute hospital setting.

About You

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in acute medical wards, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. You will be confident managing a varied caseload and working effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

You will possess excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills, alongside a commitment to delivering patient-centred care and positive rehabilitation outcomes.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience working on medical wards within an acute hospital setting.
• Experience delivering Occupational Therapy rehabilitation interventions.
• Strong multidisciplinary discharge planning experience.
• Excellent assessment, treatment planning, and clinical reasoning skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary team-working abilities.
• Commitment to evidence-based and person-centred practice.
