Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist – Wheelchair Services

Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist for a specialist locum opportunity within North London Private Healthcare. Based with Ross Care – Barnet, this role is within a dedicated Wheelchair Service supporting individuals with complex mobility, seating, postural, and functional needs.
The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running and therefore must have substantial experience working within Wheelchair Services. You will undertake specialist assessments, prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs, and provide seating and postural management solutions to improve independence, comfort, and quality of life for service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake specialist wheelchair and seating assessments for adults and children with complex needs.
- Assess mobility, posture, pressure care, and functional requirements.
- Prescribe manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, specialist seating systems, and associated equipment.
- Provide postural management recommendations and pressure-relief solutions.
- Carry out reviews and reassessments to ensure equipment remains appropriate and effective.
- Work collaboratively with service users, carers, engineers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide education and advice regarding equipment use, maintenance, and safety.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and documentation.
- Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, efficient, and person-centred Wheelchair Service.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with a strong background in Wheelchair Services. You will be confident undertaking complex assessments and prescribing appropriate mobility and seating solutions with minimal supervision.
This role requires a clinician who can integrate quickly into an established service and independently manage a specialist caseload from the outset.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Essential experience working within a Wheelchair Service.
- Experience prescribing manual and powered wheelchairs.
- Knowledge of specialist seating, postural management, and pressure care.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload.
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary team-working abilities.
- Ability to commence work quickly and contribute immediately to service delivery.

- Working Pattern: 5 days per week (4 days considered)
