Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting two Specialist Housing Occupational Therapists for locum roles within Merseyside Social Services. These positions focus on supporting adults, families, and carers through strength-based assessments, equipment provision, and housing adaptations to promote independent living and improve quality of life.
The Occupational Therapists will work within Adult Social Care services, supporting prevention and early intervention strategies to reduce hospital admissions, care package dependency, and long-term residential placements. The roles also include clinical responsibility for Occupational Therapy Assistants and supporting collaborative multidisciplinary working.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete strength-based occupational therapy assessments in line with Care Act 2014 legislation.
- Support adults with disabilities to maximise independence and quality of life.
- Recommend and organise equipment provision and structural adaptations.
- Undertake manual handling assessments using current best practice techniques.
- Provide demonstrations and guidance regarding the use of equipment and adaptations.
- Manage a varied caseload within Adult Social Care priorities and service standards.
- Maintain accurate electronic social care records and assessment documentation.
- Work collaboratively with statutory, voluntary, and community organisations.
- Support the development and supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants and students.
- Promote outcome-focused and strengths-based approaches to practice.
- Contribute to the enhanced development of occupational therapy assessment functions within the service.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
adult social care, housing adaptations, and equipment provision. You will demonstrate
excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills alongside a person-centred and strengths-based approach.
You will be confident managing complex community caseloads, supporting junior staff, and working collaboratively
with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for service users.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Experience within adult social care occupational therapy services.
- Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and relevant legislation.
- Experience with equipment provision, housing adaptations, and manual handling assessments.
- Experience supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants or students desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary working skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate electronic records and manage diverse caseloads.
