Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum role within West Midlands Social Care. This position focuses on supporting children and young people with complex needs through assessments, equipment provision, adaptations, and specialist interventions within community settings.
The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with families, schools, NHS services, and partner agencies to promote independence, safety, and improved outcomes for children and young people within their home environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake paediatric occupational therapy assessments and reviews within home environments.
- Assess and recommend standard and bespoke specialist equipment.
- Assess for and support both minor and major adaptations, including Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
- Carry out manual handling and risk assessments.
- Provide advice, guidance, and signposting to children, families, and carers.
- Implement minor adaptations and support safe equipment provision.
- Work collaboratively with NHS services, schools, Child Development Centres (CDC), and local authority teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with organisational standards.
- Support children and families using a person-centred and strengths-based approach.
About You
You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with strong knowledge of
complex equipment, manual handling, and home adaptations. You will demonstrate excellent
clinical reasoning skills and the ability to manage community-based paediatric caseloads independently.
You will be confident working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, schools, and families to
deliver high-quality interventions that maximise independence and wellbeing for children and young people.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Significant paediatric occupational therapy experience.
- Strong understanding of complex equipment and major/minor adaptations.
- Experience with Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG).
- Experience completing manual handling and risk assessments.
- Excellent clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary working skills.
