Occupational Therapist – Band 7

 

Brief Job Overview

 

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Band 7 Occupational Therapist for a locum role within Buckinghamshire NHS. This position is based within the Wheelchair Service, supporting patients requiring long-term manual and powered wheelchair provision across a variety of settings.

 

The Occupational Therapist will undertake specialist wheelchair, seating, postural, and pressure care assessments, delivering person-centred interventions and complex equipment solutions to maximise mobility, independence, and quality of life.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist wheelchair assessments for patients requiring long-term wheelchair use.
  • Assess manual and powered wheelchair requirements across a variety of settings.
  • Undertake complex postural, pressure care, and seating assessments.
  • Recommend and support the provision of custom-made postural supportive equipment.
  • Carry out detailed environmental and functional assessments.
  • Develop and implement action plans based on assessed needs.
  • Undertake manual handling interventions relating to equipment provision.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and service users to deliver person-centred care.
  • Support and supervise students where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS and HCPC standards.

 

About You

 

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with specialist knowledge of 
wheelchair services and seating assessments. You will demonstrate strong clinical 
reasoning and problem-solving skills, alongside experience managing complex mobility and postural needs.

 

You will be confident working autonomously while delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions 
within specialist wheelchair services.

 

Requirements

 

  • Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience within a wheelchair service (essential).
  • Experience undertaking complex seating, postural, and pressure care assessments.
  • Experience with manual and powered wheelchair provision.
  • Experience supervising students desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
