Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting a Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a locum role within North West Social Services. This position focuses on supporting children and young people with complex needs within community and home environments.
The Occupational Therapist will manage a specialist caseload, carrying out assessments, risk management, manual handling assessments, and recommending equipment and adaptations to maximise independence and safety for children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the needs of children and young people with complex and specialist needs within the home environment.
- Carry out risk assessments where risks within the home environment cannot be reduced to a reasonable level.
- Undertake manual handling assessments to minimise risks to children, parents, and carers.
- Provide advice on disability management, equipment provision, and long-term interventions.
- Recommend major adaptations in line with local authority policies and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to identify appropriate interventions.
- Manage a complex caseload independently in consultation with management.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals involved in service delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with legal and organisational requirements.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff members, students, and other teams.
- Contribute to team development activities and service improvement projects.
About You
You will be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
community and children’s services. You will demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning
skills and the ability to manage complex assessments and interventions independently.
You will be confident working collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to
deliver person-centred interventions that promote independence and wellbeing.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience within paediatric occupational therapy services.
- Experience completing manual handling and risk assessments.
- Experience with equipment provision and major adaptations.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
- Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of RCOT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
