Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within Merseyside Social Services. This position sits within the Occupational Therapy & Sensory Team, supporting individuals with disabilities and their carers through holistic, person-centred assessment and intervention.
The Occupational Therapist will work within community settings, assessing functional needs and providing advice, equipment, and adaptations to maximise independence and improve daily living outcomes. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to deliver effective support plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out holistic occupational therapy assessments within clients’ homes.
- Assess physical and psychological disabilities impacting daily living activities.
- Provide advice and recommendations regarding mobility, disability management, and independence.
- Assess and arrange appropriate equipment through the Community Equipment Service.
- Review equipment provision to ensure suitability and effectiveness.
- Undertake assessments for major and minor adaptations, including Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) processes.
- Carry out moving and handling and single-handed care assessments.
- Liaise with housing services, landlords, architects, and contractors regarding adaptations.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
- Maintain accurate records and manage caseload responsibilities independently.
About You
You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in
community and social care services. You will demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning
skills and the ability to assess complex functional and environmental needs.
You will be confident working autonomously within community settings while delivering person-centred
interventions that promote independence and wellbeing.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience assessing for major and minor adaptations.
- Knowledge and understanding of Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) legislation.
- Experience undertaking moving and handling and single-handed care assessments.
- Strong communication, organisational, and caseload management skills.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary and multi-agency environments.
