Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a permanent position within Kent Social Services. This role sits within Children’s Services (0–18 Disability Team), supporting children and young people with disabilities to achieve positive outcomes and maximise independence.
The Occupational Therapist will deliver strengths-based assessments and interventions, using clinical reasoning to identify appropriate solutions including equipment, enablement techniques, and minor or major adaptations. The role focuses on improving safety, independence, and quality of life for children and their families within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments for children and young people within the 0–18 Disability Team.
- Develop and implement strengths-based, person-centred intervention plans.
- Recommend equipment, adaptations, and enablement strategies to support independence and safety.
- Utilise funding streams such as Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver coordinated care.
- Support children and families to maximise independence within home and community settings.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to service delivery standards.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience or an interest in working within
children’s social care services. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and a
person-centred approach, supporting children with disabilities to achieve independence and improved outcomes.
You will be confident working collaboratively with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams, applying
occupational therapy skills within a community-based setting.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working with children and young people with disabilities desirable.
- Knowledge of equipment provision and minor/major adaptations.
- Understanding of strengths-based practice within social care.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
