Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting one or two Occupational Therapists for locum roles within East London Social Services. These positions focus on supporting individuals requiring double-handed care and moving and handling assessments, helping to ensure safe care provision and promote independence where possible.
The Occupational Therapist will assess individuals with complex physical needs, provide recommendations for safe moving and handling practices, and support care planning to ensure appropriate levels of support are in place. The role involves working closely with carers, care providers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments relating to double-handed care and moving and handling needs.
- Review and recommend safe moving and handling practices for individuals and their carers.
- Assess care packages and support plans to ensure appropriate levels of care are in place.
- Provide guidance to care providers and families on safe techniques and equipment use.
- Recommend appropriate equipment or adaptations to support safe care delivery.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and care providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in moving and handling and
supporting individuals with complex care needs. You will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to
assess and review care arrangements to ensure safety and independence.
You will be confident working with carers, families, and care providers to deliver practical solutions and ensure safe
working practices are followed.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience in moving and handling assessments.
- Experience reviewing or supporting double-handed care packages.
- Ability to assess complex needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Strong communication and collaborative working skills.
