Brief Job Overview
Tripod Partners are recruiting an Occupational Therapist for a locum role within North West Social Services. The role sits within the Equipment and Adaptations Partnership (MEAP), a city-wide service that provides coordinated support to disabled and older people, including both children and adults, to maximise independence, safety, and quality of life.
The Occupational Therapist will complete complex assessments for equipment provision and major adaptations, helping individuals live independently within their homes and communities. The role includes carrying out moving and handling assessments, recommending equipment and adaptations, and working collaboratively with families, carers, and partner organisations to develop practical, person-centred solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out occupational therapy assessments relating to equipment provision, adaptations, and moving and handling needs.
- Assess complex situations and develop person-centred plans to support independence and daily living.
- Recommend appropriate equipment, assistive technology, minor adaptations, or major adaptations.
- Support disabled people and their carers to live safely and independently within their homes and communities.
- Work collaboratively with council colleagues, partner agencies, and stakeholders to manage risk and support service users.
- Maintain accurate records in line with statutory responsibilities and local and national policies.
- Supervise and support students, trainees, and other staff members where required.
- Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives within the Equipment and Adaptations Partnership.
About You
You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with a strong practice background in assessing and recommending equipment and adaptations for individuals with complex needs. You will be confident managing a diverse caseload and carrying out holistic occupational therapy assessments to support independence and wellbeing.
Experience completing moving and handling assessments and recommending equipment such as beds, complex seating, or home adaptations will be beneficial. You will also demonstrate strong communication and partnership working skills when collaborating with families, colleagues, and partner agencies.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Strong practice background in assessing and recommending complex equipment and adaptations.
- Experience carrying out moving and handling assessments.
- Experience managing a varied and complex caseload.
- Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
