Brief Job Overview

 

Tripod Partners are recruiting a Specialist Occupational Therapist – Band 6 for a locum opportunity with 
NELFT NHS Foundation Trust in Redbridge, North East London. This position sits within an 
Integrated Health Team delivering community-based rehabilitation for adults, including patients with a 
new stroke diagnosis.

 

In this Band 6 Occupational Therapist job in North East London NHS services, you will manage a clinical caseload, 
providing detailed functional assessments and delivering rehabilitation interventions that support recovery, independence, and 
quality of life. The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based stroke rehabilitation 
in community settings across the borough.

 

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced community Occupational Therapist with knowledge of 
stroke rehabilitation guidelines and experience supporting patients with complex functional needs in the 
community.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a caseload of patients within the community, providing occupational therapy assessments and rehabilitation interventions.
  • Conduct detailed functional assessments to identify patients’ physical, cognitive, and environmental needs.
  • Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation for individuals with new stroke diagnoses within community settings.
  • Develop patient-centred therapy plans that support independence and functional recovery.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and rehabilitation goals.
  • Provide advice and strategies to patients and carers to support daily living and ongoing recovery.
  • Assess and arrange appropriate equipment to improve independence, safety, and quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to ongoing care planning.

 

About You

 

You will be an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in community rehabilitation, particularly 
supporting patients following a stroke. You will be confident completing detailed assessments and delivering rehabilitation 
programmes that address complex functional needs.

 

Strong communication and collaborative working skills are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues across the 
multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care. You will also be comfortable working independently in the 
community while maintaining high clinical standards.

 

Requirements

 

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working within the NHS, particularly in community settings.
  • Experience in community rehabilitation for patients with stroke diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of stroke rehabilitation guidelines and best practice.
  • Ability to carry a clinical caseload and complete detailed assessments.
  • Experience recommending and arranging equipment to support patient independence.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills.

 

Contract & Salary

 

  • Role: Specialist Occupational Therapist – Band 6
  • Location: NELFT NHS Foundation Trust, Redbridge, North East London
  • Service: Integrated Health Team
  • Contract Type: Locum
  • Contract Length: Ongoing
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, shifts between 09:00 – 17:00
  • Weekly Hours: 37.5 hours
