Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist

 

Location: Vale of Glamorgan Council – Canolfan Ty Jenner, Gladstone Road, Barry

Area: South Wales

Salary: £22.19 per hour (Limited/Umbrella)

Job Type: Locum

Contract Length: Ongoing

 

Job Details: Occupational Therapist required for the assessment of adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and/or learning disabilities. The role focuses on promoting independence, reducing reliance on care packages and supporting individuals to remain at home safely for as long as possible.

 

  •  
    • Carry out Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions and evaluations for adults, primarily those with complex needs
       

    • Assess for aids to independence, minor and major adaptations, and undertake manual handling assessments
       

    • Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of equipment, adaptations and interventions
       

    • Promote independence, social inclusion and safe care for all clients on caseload
       

    • Work within an interdisciplinary setting and provide advice to team members and social work colleagues
       

    • Liaise and work collaboratively with external agencies as required
       

    • Monitor the progress of recommendations for works of adaptation and equipment, including reviewing provisions as necessary
       

    • Support and supervise junior staff, students and Occupational Therapy Assistants as delegated
       

    • Complete administrative duties, ensuring accurate and contemporaneous case notes on computer-based systems
       

    • Contribute to the development and improvement of adult services within the Council catchment area
       

    • Prepare for and attend supervision and actively participate in team meetings
       

    • Ensure compliance with Financial Regulations, Standing Orders, Council policies and procedures
       

    • Adhere to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Environmental policies
       

    • Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as required
