Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6 or 7

 

Location: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 75 Osborne Road, Sheffield

Area: South Yorkshire NHS

Salary: £negotiable

Job Type: Locum

Contract length: Ongoing (initially 3–4 months)

Working hours: Weekdays, 08.30 – 16.30 (ideally full time)

 

Job details:

 

Speech and Language Therapist required to work within the Neuro Enablement Service, starting ASAP.
The role sits within a multidisciplinary community neuro rehabilitation team supporting adults with
progressive long-term neurological conditions.

 

  •  
    • Work with clients with progressive neurological conditions including MS, Parkinson’s disease, MND and Huntington’s Disease
       

    • Provide specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention within a community neuro rehabilitation setting
       

    • Undertake dysphagia (swallowing) assessments and management independently
       

    • Work autonomously and unsupervised in the community, delivering high-quality, person-centred care
       

    • Undertake home visits across the city to assess and support clients in their own homes
       

    • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support rehabilitation and quality of life
       

    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards

     

    Skills and experience required:

     

    •  
      • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration
         

      • Band 6 or Band 7 experience depending on competency level
         

      • Experience working with progressive long-term neurological conditions
         

      • Competent to assess and manage dysphagia independently
         

      • Experience working within a community and multidisciplinary setting
         

      • Ability to work autonomously and manage own caseload
         

      • Access to own transport and ability to travel across the city
