Job overview:

 

Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist required to start ASAP within Children & Family Health services,
working with children and young people aged 0–18 years. This is a statutory Occupational Therapy role
covering the wider Devon area, supporting complex cases that require specialist equipment provision and
assessment for potential adaptations.

 

The post holder must have experience in statutory / social care Occupational Therapy, be confident working
autonomously in the community, and be able to undertake home and school visits across the county.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  •  
    • Hold responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a caseload within a designated geographical area (Exeter, East and Mid Devon, or North Devon), working within own level of competence and capability
       

    • Use a strengths-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness through evidence-based interventions, collaborative goal setting and Routine Outcome Measures
       

    • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessment, advice and intervention to children and young people with a wide range of occupational performance difficulties across home, school and community settings
       

    • Provide coaching and training to children, families, carers and professionals as appropriate
       

    • Assess, recommend and support the provision of specialist adaptive equipment as part of statutory provision
       

    • Provide specialist guidance and recommendations for home and school adaptations
       

    • Undertake assessment and intervention relating to specialised equipment and environmental adaptations as part of statutory Occupational Therapy work
       

    • Work flexibly across other geographical areas within Devon to support colleagues in response to service demand
       

    • Complete accurate documentation and reports in line with service, professional and statutory requirements

     

    Skills and experience required:

     

    •  
      • Significant experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist
         

      • Statutory / social care Occupational Therapy experience essential
         

      • Experience assessing for complex equipment and potential adaptations
         

      • Confident working autonomously within a community setting
         

      • Ability to travel across the county to undertake community visits
