Brief Job Overview

Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to be based at Farnham House in Stevenage. This locum role sits within Adult Social Care and focuses on delivering high-quality, person-centred occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support residents to live as independently as possible.

You will manage your own caseload, work autonomously where appropriate, and collaborate closely with colleagues, partner agencies, and local communities to improve outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain effective professional relationships with residents, carers, communities, and partner organisations.
• Undertake assessments using appropriate frameworks to identify needs and determine suitable, proportionate support.
• Ensure support plans are outcome-focused, person-centred, and cost-effective.
• Manage your own caseload, prioritising workload and working autonomously where required.
• Plan, organise, and coordinate resources to ensure work is delivered efficiently.
• Participate in planning and reviewing cases and projects, applying professional analysis and research.
• Provide feedback on operational issues to support service improvement and development.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

About You

You will be a confident and motivated Occupational Therapist with strong decision-making skills and a collaborative approach. You will be comfortable working independently while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment.

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• HCPC registration (essential).
• Knowledge and experience of relevant social care legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Practice in line with Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ professional standards and HCPC Standards of Proficiency.
• Ability to work effectively with partners and other agencies.
• Strong assessment, organisational, and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and regular access to a vehicle for work purposes.

• Locum contract – ongoing
• Competitive rate – £negotiable
• Based at Farnham House, Stevenage
