Paediatric Occupational Therapist (Part Time, Locum)

 

Location: Richmond and surrounding schools

Area: South West London

Rate: £40–£50 per hour (depending on experience)

Contract: Locum, Ongoing

Hours: Part time – 2.5 to 3 days per week

 

Role Overview

 

An experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist is urgently required to provide school-based occupational therapy across Richmond and neighbouring schools. This role involves delivering targeted intervention to children with a range of neurodevelopmental and physical needs, working closely with school staff, parents and carers.

 

The post holder will spend one day per week at a Richmond school, with a further 1.5–2 days per week supporting pupils in other local schools.

  • Children with neurodiversity.
  • Cerebral palsy.
  • Autistic spectrum conditions.
  • All pupils have EHCPs with specified intervention requirements.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Provide direct occupational therapy intervention with children and key adults.
  • Undertake ongoing assessment and review of progress.
  • Model and teach strategies to children, teachers and support staff.
  • Develop therapy programmes and complete session notes.
  • Provide appropriate resources to support intervention.
  • Liaise closely with parents and carers.
  • Contribute to EHCP annual reviews.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant experience working in paediatric and school-based settings.
  • Strong understanding of EHCPs and statutory requirements.
  • Experience supporting children with neurodiversity, autism and physical disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously across multiple school sites.
