Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist (Locum)

 

Location: Manchester City Council

Area: North West Social Services

Rate: £36 per hour

Contract: Locum, Ongoing

 

Role Overview

 

Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Equipment and Adaptations Partnership (MEAP) within the Moving and Handling Team. This is a high-impact role focused on improving independence, safety and quality of life for disabled and older residents across the city.

 

The service provides a comprehensive, coordinated and streamlined approach to moving and handling, equipment provision and adaptations, helping to prevent falls, reduce hospital admissions and minimise reliance on care services. The role covers both children and adults.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Undertake moving and handling risk assessments for adults and children.
  • Assess for and recommend complex equipment and major adaptations.
  • Provide safe, effective moving and handling solutions to enhance independence.
  • Assess eligibility for and support the provision of Blue Badges.
  • Work within a busy local authority service managing a high volume of complex cases.
  • Communicate effectively with service users, carers, families and partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records using appropriate ICT systems.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience in moving and handling, equipment provision and adaptations.
  • Ability to work with both adult and paediatric caseloads.
  • Strong communication skills with a wide range of individuals.
  • Good ICT skills.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car (essential car user allowance payable).
