Location: East London NHS Foundation Trust – Newham (East Ham Care Centre)

Area: East London NHS

Rate: £Negotiable

Contract: Locum, Ongoing (initial 3 months)

Hours: Part time – 0.6 WTE

 

About the Role

 

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Pulmonary Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to join the Community Health Newham service. This role focuses on delivering high-quality pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with complex respiratory conditions, including COPD, working closely within a multidisciplinary team.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Assess and diagnose patients with complex respiratory conditions, including COPD.
  • Deliver pulmonary rehabilitation exercise classes face-to-face.
  • Assess patients for suitability to enrol onto pulmonary rehabilitation programmes.
  • Provide specialist physiotherapy input, education and advice to patients and carers.
  • Motivate patients to maximise independence and understanding of their condition.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers and families, including those experiencing anxiety, stress or communication difficulties.
  • Contribute the physiotherapy perspective within MDT discussions.
  • Utilise a range of personal, external and technical resources to support patient care.

 

Additional Duties (JD Available on Request)

 

  • Maintain a high standard of clinical practice, particularly in respiratory physiotherapy.
  • Act as a role model within Community Health Newham therapy services.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and support within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service.
  • Support the development of pathways, guidelines and policies for pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Remain up to date with clinical developments and research in respiratory physiotherapy.
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical and Service Leads to support service development.
  • Hold clinical responsibility for the Respiratory Service within Community Health Newham, with appropriate clinical support.
