About the Role
Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the Equipment and Adaptations Partnership (MEAP) – Moving and Handling Team. This is a busy, impactful role supporting both adults and children, helping to enhance independence, reduce risk and improve quality of life for disabled and older residents.
The service provides a comprehensive, coordinated approach to moving and handling, complex equipment provision and major adaptations, with a strong focus on preventing falls, hospital admissions and unnecessary reliance on care services.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake moving and handling risk assessments for adults and children.
- Assess for and recommend complex equipment and major adaptations.
- Support the provision of appropriate moving and handling solutions to promote independence and safety.
- Assess eligibility for Blue Badges (parking concessions for people with substantial disabilities).
- Work collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary local authority service.
- Communicate effectively with service users, families, carers and partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to a streamlined, person-centred service.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Experience in moving and handling, equipment provision and adaptations.
- Ability to assess complex cases involving both adults and children.
- Strong communication skills with a wide range of individuals.
- Good ICT skills.
- Full driving licence and access to a car (essential car user allowance payable).
