Occupational Therapist (Locum – 2 Roles)

 

Location: Yorkshire Collaboration – Calderdale

Area: Yorkshire Social Services

Rate: £25.14 per hour (umbrella)

Contract: Locum, Ongoing (6 months – Winter Pressures)

 

About the Role

 

Two experienced Occupational Therapists are required to support winter pressures within the Yorkshire Collaboration in Calderdale. These roles will focus on reviewing existing care packages, using manual handling expertise to implement single-handed care where appropriate, ensuring person-centred, least-restrictive outcomes.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Review and evaluate existing care packages to ensure they remain appropriate and effective.
  • Apply manual handling skills to promote safe, single-handed care solutions where suitable.
  • Ensure individuals remain central to decision-making, empowering vulnerable adults to maintain autonomy.
  • Work collaboratively with family members, carers and care providers to deliver appropriate, least-restrictive support.
  • Support vulnerable and disadvantaged adults in line with relevant legislation and policy guidance.
  • Apply legislation correctly to maintain independence and maximise individuals’ abilities and support networks.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records in accordance with local authority requirements.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care.
  • Strong manual handling knowledge and experience implementing single-handed care.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and best practice in adult social care.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced, review-focused service.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
