About the Role

 

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join its Intermediate Care service. The post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred rehabilitation for individuals with complex needs within the Intermediate Care Unit, while also supporting junior members of the team.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a caseload of Intermediate Care patients with complex conditions, using specialist assessment and intervention skills.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate patient-centred rehabilitation programmes based on evidence-based practice.
  • Provide supervision, training and day-to-day support to junior Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy students on placement, ensuring high-quality learning experiences.
  • Contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of Intermediate Care services, leading on defined service projects where required.
  • Work collaboratively within the inter-disciplinary team to ensure coordinated, holistic patient care.
  • Develop and share clinical expertise within the service, contributing to the implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with Trust and HCPC requirements.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

  • HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant post-qualification experience, ideally within Intermediate Care or similar rehabilitation services.
  • Strong clinical reasoning skills and experience managing complex caseloads.
  • Confidence supervising junior staff and students.
  • Excellent communication and MDT collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice and willingness to contribute to service development.

 

Working Hours

 

  • Shift pattern: 09:00 – 17:00.
