Rehab Assistant – Band 3 (Locum)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a Band 3 Rehab Assistant to join the Intensive Rehabilitation & Therapy Service at NELFT, working across Grays Court Community Hospital and Goodmayes Hospital within the North East London NHS. This community-facing locum role supports the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of patients within a community rehabilitation team. A full, current driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential due to the nature of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  •
  • Support the independent assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of patients within the community rehabilitation service.

  • Deliver delegated rehabilitation interventions under the direction of qualified therapy staff.

  • Use recognised outcome measures and clinical reasoning to guide and monitor patient progress.

  • Confidently plan and manage your own delegated caseload and treatment programmes.

  • Support patients to improve mobility, functional ability, and independence in daily activities.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and effective rehabilitation.

  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with NELFT and NHS standards.

About You

You are a motivated and reliable Rehab Assistant with previous NHS experience, ideally within a community or rehabilitation setting. You are confident working independently with delegated caseloads and bring a proactive, patient-centred approach to supporting recovery and safe discharge. Your strong organisational and communication skills will allow you to contribute effectively within a fast-paced rehabilitation team.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within the NHS, preferably in a community or rehabilitation service.

  • Confidence in planning and managing a delegated caseload.

  • Understanding of rehabilitation principles and outcome measurement.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
