About the Role
Wandsworth Council is seeking a dedicated Sensory Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Sensory Services Team. This role focuses on supporting residents who are blind or partially sighted by carrying out assessments and providing essential sensory equipment to enhance safety, independence and quality of life.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments with individuals who are blind or partially sighted to identify functional needs and challenges within the home environment.
- Provide basic sensory equipment to support independence, accessibility and safety.
- Work closely with the Sensory Services Team to ensure coordinated and timely support for service users.
- Offer practical guidance and reassurance to individuals adjusting to sensory loss.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with council procedures.
- Support the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred sensory service.
Requirements
- Experience in social care, sensory services or a related support role (desirable).
- Understanding of the needs of people with visual impairments.
- Good communication, empathy and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Organisational skills and attention to detail for record keeping.
