About the Role
Camden Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Team Manager to join our Adults Services team on a 3-month interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident leader to play a pivotal role in managing a high-performing adult social care team and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred services across the borough.
As Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership and operational oversight to a team of social workers and support staff. You will ensure that assessments, care planning, and reviews are carried out to the highest standards, meeting statutory duties and delivering positive outcomes for adults with care and support needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage an adult social care team, providing clear direction, supervision, and professional guidance to staff.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and related statutory frameworks.
- Oversee complex casework, ensuring that risk is managed effectively and decisions are made in the best interests of service users.
- Promote strengths-based, person-centred practice that supports independence, choice, and wellbeing.
- Monitor and improve team performance, ensuring targets and quality standards are met.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring value for money and efficient use of public funds.
- Support reflective supervision, continuous learning, and staff development to build a motivated and resilient team.
- Work collaboratively with health, housing, and voluntary sector partners to promote integrated, holistic approaches to care.
- Contribute to service development and innovation, supporting Camden’s vision for inclusive, community-focused adult social care.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Substantial post-qualifying experience within adult social care, including management or supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of legislation, policy, and best practice in adult safeguarding, mental capacity, and community care.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to make sound professional decisions under pressure and manage competing demands effectively.
