About the Role
The London Borough of Haringey is seeking a skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our Children’s Services team on a 3-month interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse London borough that is committed to improving the lives of children, young people, and families through strong, relationship-based practice.
As a Social Worker, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services to children in need, those at risk of harm, and children in care. You will be responsible for assessing and managing risk, building meaningful relationships with families, and developing effective plans to promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families in line with statutory duties and best practice guidance.
- Develop, implement, and review Child in Need, Child Protection, and Care Plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Manage a varied caseload, ensuring all work is completed within statutory timescales and to a high professional standard.
- Work directly with children, young people, and their families to build trust and promote positive change.
- Collaborate with colleagues, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies to deliver coordinated and effective support.
- Prepare detailed reports for case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings as required.
- Ensure all practice reflects Haringey’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, placing the child’s voice at the centre of all decision-making.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and reflective case recordings in line with local authority procedures and national standards.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Substantial post-qualifying experience within children’s social care, including safeguarding, assessment, and care planning.
- Strong understanding of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and the London Child Protection Procedures.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency context in a busy urban environment.
- Commitment to restorative, trauma-informed, and child-centred practice.
