Occupational Therapist (Locum)

Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Nottingham City Council within the East Midlands Social Services area. This locum role sits within the council’s transformation workstream and focuses on delivering effective, outcome-based occupational therapy interventions for adults. You will support individuals to live safely and independently, while also contributing to the review and optimisation of existing care packages through skilled assessment and professional decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  •
  • Undertake holistic assessments for adults requiring support, with a focus on independence, safety, and function within the home environment.

  • Prescribe appropriate moving and handling equipment, ensuring safe and effective single-handed care wherever suitable.

  • Review and reduce packages of care through evidence-based recommendations and improved functional outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, providers, and adult social care colleagues to support consistent and high-quality practice.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, preferably using Liquidlogic case management systems.

  • Contribute to wider service transformation aims through proactive problem-solving and person-centred practice.

  • Work autonomously while managing a varied caseload and prioritising tasks effectively.

About You

You are an experienced and proactive Occupational Therapist with a strong background in adult social care. You will bring excellent assessment skills, confidence in prescribing equipment, and a clear understanding of moving and handling principles. Your ability to deliver safe, efficient single-handed care recommendations and contribute to the review of support packages will be essential to this role. Familiarity with Liquidlogic is desirable.

Requirements

  •
  • Degree or MSc in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Experience working within adult social care services.

  • Strong understanding of moving and handling equipment, risk assessments, and single-handed care practice.

  • Experience in reviewing and adjusting packages of care to promote independence and safety.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills.

  • Experience using Liquidlogic is desirable.

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage a busy caseload.
