Location: NELFT – Vicarage Fields Health Centre / Yew Tree Centre, Romford

Area: North East London NHS

Rate: £Negotiable

Contract: Locum, Ongoing

 

About the Role

 

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Community Rehab Service at NELFT. Working across Romford, Havering, and Barking & Dagenham, you will manage a complex caseload of adults with stroke and neurological conditions, delivering assessments and tailored rehabilitation programmes in both home and community settings.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a complex community caseload of patients with stroke and a range of neurological diagnoses.
  • Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments and develop individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans.
  • Work across patient homes, community venues, and clinic settings throughout Havering and Barking & Dagenham.
  • Contribute effectively within the multidisciplinary team and provide support to junior staff.
  • Promote patient independence, function and quality of life through evidence-based interventions.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical records in line with HCPC and Trust standards.

 

Requirements

 

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience in stroke and/or neurology within a community or rehab setting.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
  • Strong MDT working, communication and clinical reasoning skills.
  • Car driver with access to a vehicle, as home and community visits are essential.
  • Confident in supporting and guiding junior staff.

 

Working Hours

 

  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (30-minute break).
