Brief Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist (Band 6) to join the Community Children’s Physiotherapy Service at Croydon Health Services. This full-time locum role is based at the Crystal Children’s Development Centre and involves providing specialist neurological and neurodevelopmental physiotherapy to children and young people across Croydon.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will deliver high-quality physiotherapy assessment, intervention, and review in a range of community settings — including CHS facilities, homes, nurseries, and schools — with a focus on promoting independence, functional ability, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist neurological and neurodevelopmental physiotherapy assessments and interventions for children and young people aged 0–19 years.
- Deliver treatment in a variety of community settings such as homes, nurseries, mainstream and special schools, and CHS facilities.
- Work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team within the Children’s Physiotherapy Service.
- Develop, implement, and review individualised treatment plans based on evidence-based practice and in collaboration with families, carers, and professionals.
- Provide advice, support, and training to parents, carers, teachers, and other professionals involved in the child’s care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with professional and NHS standards.
- Participate in service development, clinical supervision, and continuous professional development activities.
- Contribute to safeguarding, child protection, and health promotion in all areas of clinical practice.
About You
You are an enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Physiotherapist with a genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people. You will be confident working independently and as part of a team, with experience in special school settings and a broad understanding of children’s physical and developmental needs.
You are flexible, well-organised, and able to manage your caseload across multiple community settings. Your communication skills enable you to work effectively with children, families, and partner professionals, ensuring that every child receives the best possible standard of care.
Requirements
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification.
- HCPC Registration as a Physiotherapist.
- Significant post-qualification experience as a Paediatric Physiotherapist (minimum Band 6 level).
- Experience working in special school environments (essential).
- Strong knowledge of neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions in children.
- Proven ability to work as an autonomous practitioner within a community service.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and clinical reasoning skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively.
- Car owner/driver with access to a vehicle (essential for community visits).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Contract & Working Pattern
- Hours: Full time
- Days: Monday to Friday

- Salary: £Negotiable (dependent on experience)
