Assistant Team Manager / Deputy Team Manager – Locum – Enfield

Brief Job Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Assistant Team Manager (ATM) or Deputy Team Manager (DTM) to join Enfield Council on a locum contract. This role offers the opportunity to provide strong leadership and professional oversight within children’s social care, ensuring high-quality, consistent practice across the team. You’ll play a key role in supporting practitioners, overseeing casework, and driving positive outcomes for children and families across the borough.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day management, supervision, and support to a team of social workers

  • Oversee complex child protection and assessment cases, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities

  • Promote high standards of professional practice through coaching, mentoring, and reflective supervision

  • Monitor performance, ensuring timely and effective case progression and quality assurance of work

  • Support senior management in implementing service development and improvement plans

  • Build strong partnerships with multi-agency professionals to coordinate effective interventions for children and families

About You

  • You are a Qualified Social Worker with substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s social care

  • You have demonstrable experience in a supervisory or management role (ATM, DTM, or equivalent)

  • You lead with confidence, clarity, and compassion, supporting your team to achieve positive outcomes

  • You are organised, reflective, and skilled at managing competing demands in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification)

  • Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)

  • Proven experience in statutory children’s services, ideally within safeguarding, assessment, or child protection teams

  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to analyse complex information and provide effective case direction

  • Car driver with access to a vehicle preferred

  • Location: Enfield, North London

  • Contract type: Locum / Temporary

  • Duration: Ongoing contract

  • Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

  • Pay rate: Competitive, dependent on experience and local pay scales
