Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (London Borough of Islington)
Job Overview
We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Islington Children’s Services**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and ensuring that children’s voices are at the centre of planning and decision-making.
As a Qualified Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload, including child in need, child protection, and looked-after children. You will work directly with children, young people, and families, while collaborating with partner agencies to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.
Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans that focus on children’s best interests.
Manage a caseload including child in need, child protection, and looked-after children cases.
Prepare and present evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive and supportive relationships.
Collaborate with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to deliver effective multi-agency safeguarding and support.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Islington Council policies.
Engage in reflective supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Experience working within Children’s Services (caseloads will be matched to your level of experience).
Knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent assessment, planning, and report-writing skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and with multi-agency partners.
