Brief Job Overview

 
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Social Care Team at the London Borough of Ealing. This is an ongoing locum role offering an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to adults’ independence, wellbeing, and quality of life across the borough.  

As part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, you will assess functional needs, recommend appropriate interventions, and support service users to live safely and independently within their homes and communities.  
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Carry out comprehensive functional and environmental assessments in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
  • Identify and recommend equipment, assistive technology, and adaptations to enhance independence and safety at home.
  • Prepare and process referrals for minor and major adaptations, liaising with contractors and housing teams where necessary.
  • Develop and implement individualised intervention plans to support rehabilitation, reablement, and improved daily living.
  • Provide moving and handling assessments and advise on safe practices for service users and carers.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, physiotherapists, and health professionals to deliver person-centred care.
  • Support and advise carers and families in managing functional difficulties within the home environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with council policies and professional standards.
  • Contribute to service development and promote high standards of occupational therapy practice.

 

About You

 
You are a confident and autonomous practitioner with experience in adult social care. You have a thorough understanding of occupational therapy interventions and legislation relevant to adults with physical disabilities, long-term conditions, and complex needs.  

You are passionate about supporting independence, improving wellbeing, and providing creative, person-centred solutions that make a measurable impact in people’s lives.  
 

Requirements

 

  • BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant post-qualification experience within adult social care or community settings.
  • Knowledge of Care Act 2014 and relevant social care legislation.
  • Experience with equipment provision, adaptations, and moving and handling assessments.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Contract & Working Pattern

 

  • Working Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Days: Monday – Friday
  • Contract: Ongoing locum position
  • Salary: £36.75 per hour
  • Location: London Borough of Ealing, West London Social Services
