Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services (Bromley Council)
Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Senior Social Worker (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **Bromley Council Children’s Services team**. This role focuses on leading complex safeguarding work, supporting children and families, and providing guidance and mentoring to colleagues to deliver safe and effective practice.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for managing challenging cases, ensuring compliance with statutory duties, and contributing to the professional development of the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on complex safeguarding and child protection cases.
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.
Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans that place children at the centre.
Provide professional mentoring, coaching, and support to junior and newly qualified social workers.
Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive, trusting relationships.
Collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure joined-up, multi-agency support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Bromley Council policies.
Contribute to reflective supervision, service audits, and continuous improvement within Children’s Services.
About You
You are a resilient and confident social worker with strong post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are skilled at managing complex safeguarding cases, supporting colleagues, and ensuring that children’s needs are prioritised in every decision.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience within Children’s Services.
Proven ability to manage complex safeguarding and child protection cases.
Experience of mentoring, coaching, or supporting colleagues.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.
