Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker – QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Sutton Children’s Services team**. This leadership role is focused on managing a team of social workers, overseeing complex safeguarding cases, and ensuring that children and families receive the highest quality of support.
As a Team Manager, you will provide supervision, professional oversight, and leadership to social workers, while working closely with partner agencies to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong leadership, direction, and supervision to a team of social workers.
Oversee complex safeguarding and child protection cases, ensuring high standards of practice.
Support the professional development of staff through mentoring, coaching, and reflective supervision.
Ensure statutory assessments and care planning are carried out in line with legislation and policy.
Prepare and review performance reports, audits, and quality assurance processes.
Promote a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and child-centred practice.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations.
Ensure accurate and compliant case recording in line with statutory and council requirements.
Contribute to service planning, policy development, and strategic priorities within Children’s Services.
About You
You are a skilled and confident leader with substantial post-qualification experience in children’s social work. You are able to manage and inspire a team, drive quality practice, and ensure children remain at the centre of decision-making.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Significant post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and complex case management.
Proven experience in a supervisory or management role.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to mentor, coach, and develop staff.
