About the Role
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a skilled and confident Team Manager to lead the Early Help Hub within our Children’s Front Door Service. This is a key leadership position within the Safeguarding and Early Help pathway, ensuring children and families receive timely, proportionate, and effective support at the first point of contact.
The Front Door Service encompasses the Safeguarding Hub, Early Help Hub, and Emergency Duty Team — the main access point for all potential safeguarding concerns and early help enquiries. You will oversee a small, dedicated team of Early Help and Prevention Practitioners, providing strategic direction, management support, and robust decision-making to ensure the right service is delivered to every child, young person, and family.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Early Help Hub, providing clear guidance, motivation, and supervision to Early Help and Prevention Practitioners.
- Provide management support within the Safeguarding Hub, ensuring cohesive and effective joint working across all front-door services.
- Act as a confident and accountable decision-maker, ensuring prompt and proportionate responses to safeguarding and early help enquiries.
- Deliver high-quality supervision and oversight, ensuring staff are supported to make safe, consistent, and timely decisions.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-agency setting, supporting co-located partners and fostering effective joint working relationships.
- Contribute to a quality assurance framework, driving continuous improvement in frontline practice and service delivery.
- Model a strengths-based, solution-focused, and relational approach consistent with the council’s Stronger Together ethos.
- Promote positive, proactive, and collaborative working across all children’s services and external partners.
Requirements
- Essential qualification: Degree in Social Work (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Registration: Registered with Social Work England.
- Extensive experience within a Children’s Front Door or similar first-point-of-contact safeguarding service.
- Demonstrable leadership and team management experience within children’s social care.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding thresholds, early help frameworks, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills, with the ability to work confidently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Ability to build strong, effective partnerships with multi-agency professionals and stakeholders.
