Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Liverpool City Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **Liverpool City Council Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering high-quality social work interventions that promote safety, stability, and positive long-term outcomes.

As a Qualified Social Worker, you will hold a varied caseload, complete statutory assessments, and work collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies to deliver effective, child-centred support.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, needs, and strengths.

Develop, implement, and review child-focused care and protection plans.

Manage safeguarding and child protection cases in line with statutory responsibilities.

Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.

Work directly with children, young people, and families to build positive, trusting relationships.

Collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary organisations to ensure coordinated multi-agency support.

Ensure case records are accurate, timely, and compliant with legislation and Liverpool City Council policies.

Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and continuous service improvement.

About You

You are a motivated and resilient social worker with post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in managing safeguarding practice, working with complex cases, and committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience working in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload effectively.
