Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (London Borough of Sutton)
Job Overview
We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join the **London Borough of Sutton Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality social work interventions that make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.
You will hold a varied caseload, carry out statutory assessments, and work in partnership with children, families, and other agencies to deliver safe, effective, and child-centred outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, needs, and strengths.
Develop, implement, and review care and protection plans that promote positive outcomes for children.
Manage safeguarding and child protection cases in line with statutory guidance.
Prepare and present evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Build positive and trusting relationships with children, families, and carers.
Work collaboratively with schools, health services, police, and voluntary organisations to provide joined-up support.
Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case recording in line with legislation and Sutton Council policies.
Engage in reflective supervision, peer learning, and contribute to continuous service development.
About You
You are a motivated and resilient social worker with post-qualification experience in children’s services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, able to manage complex cases, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Experience working within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload effectively.
