Job Overview
We are recruiting an experienced **Team Manager (Qualified Social Worker)** to join the **Liverpool City Council Children’s Services team**. This leadership role involves managing a team of social workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality safeguarding practice and strong outcomes for children and families across Liverpool.
As Team Manager, you will provide reflective supervision, oversee complex casework, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clear leadership and day-to-day management for a team of children’s social workers.
Oversee safeguarding and child protection cases to ensure statutory compliance and high standards of practice.
Allocate, monitor, and review caseloads to ensure effective workload balance.
Deliver professional supervision, guidance, and support to social workers and team members.
Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Ensure all assessments, care plans, and interventions are timely, accurate, and child-focused.
Prepare and present evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, statutory reviews, and court proceedings.
Work in partnership with schools, health professionals, police, and voluntary sector organisations to provide joined-up support.
Contribute to service audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a confident and resilient social work professional with significant experience in children’s services. You have the ability to lead and support staff, manage safeguarding practice, and ensure children remain at the centre of decision-making.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.
Extensive post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.
Proven management or supervisory experience within a statutory social work setting.
Excellent knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with oversight of complex casework.
