Job Overview
We are recruiting a **Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist** to join the **Integrated Health Team at NELFT Redbridge** in East London. This community-based role focuses on delivering high-quality rehabilitation and support to patients recovering from stroke and other complex conditions. You will manage a varied caseload, carrying out comprehensive assessments, interventions, and discharge planning to promote independence and quality of life.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will contribute to patient-centred care, applying up-to-date stroke rehabilitation guidelines and clinical best practice to optimise recovery and functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
– Manage an independent caseload of patients requiring community-based rehabilitation and functional assessment. – Undertake detailed occupational therapy assessments, develop treatment plans, and set achievable, patient-centred goals. – Apply current **stroke rehabilitation guidelines** to design and deliver evidence-based interventions. – Collaborate effectively with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, and other MDT colleagues to ensure coordinated care. – Recommend and order appropriate equipment or environmental adaptations to enhance patient independence and safety. – Monitor patient progress, review treatment plans, and document outcomes in accordance with NHS and HCPC standards. – Contribute to service development initiatives and quality improvement within the Integrated Health Team.

You are an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist with a strong understanding of community rehabilitation for patients with new stroke diagnoses. You take pride in delivering holistic, person-centred care and excel at communicating complex information in a clear, supportive manner.

Requirements
– Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy. – Current **HCPC registration**. – Proven experience in community rehabilitation, ideally within an NHS setting. – Sound knowledge of **stroke rehabilitation pathways and clinical guidelines**. – Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills. – Experience in equipment assessment and prescription to promote independence. – Ability to manage a diverse caseload autonomously.
Contract & Salary
– **Hours:** Full-time, 37.5 hours per week – **Working Pattern:** Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 – **Contract Type:** Locum, ongoing assignment – **Salary:** Negotiable, dependent on experience
