Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Staffordshire County Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Staffordshire County Council’s Children’s Services team**. In this role, you will safeguard vulnerable children, support families, and deliver interventions that promote safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

You will manage a diverse caseload, undertake statutory assessments, and work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act to identify risks, strengths, and needs.

Develop, implement, and review care and support plans tailored to children and families.

Manage child protection and safeguarding cases in line with statutory guidance.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.

Work directly with children, families, and carers to build trust and achieve positive, sustainable change.

Engage in multi-agency working with schools, health services, and voluntary sector partners.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with legislation and council policies.

Participate in reflective supervision, team learning, and service development initiatives.

About You

You are a motivated and resilient social worker with experience in children’s services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, skilled in managing complex cases, and committed to building strong, supportive relationships with children and families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Post-qualification experience within Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.

Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practice.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.
