Qualified Social Worker – Adults’ Services (Southampton City Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a committed **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Southampton City Council’s Adults’ Services team**. In this role, you will support adults with diverse needs, safeguard vulnerable individuals, and promote independence and wellbeing within the community.

You will manage a varied caseload, undertake statutory assessments, and work closely with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to deliver safe, person-centred outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments to identify needs, strengths, and risks.

Develop, implement, and review individualised care and support plans.

Lead safeguarding enquiries and manage risk effectively.

Carry out Mental Capacity Act assessments and contribute to best-interest decisions.

Prepare evidence-based reports for reviews, panels, and legal proceedings.

Work in partnership with health, housing, voluntary, and community services to provide joined-up support.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with legislation and council policy.

Contribute to reflective supervision, peer learning, and service development initiatives.

About You

You are a compassionate and resilient social worker with experience in adults’ services. You are confident in safeguarding practice, managing complex cases, and maintaining a strong focus on achieving positive outcomes for adults and their families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**.

Experience within Adults’ Services, including safeguarding and complex case management.

Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and adult safeguarding procedures.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage caseloads effectively while maintaining a person-centred approach.
