Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services (Caerphilly County Borough Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Children’s Services team**. This role is focused on safeguarding children, supporting families, and delivering high-quality interventions to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.

You will manage complex caseloads, undertake statutory assessments, and work collaboratively with families and multi-agency partners to provide effective, timely support.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake child protection and safeguarding assessments in line with statutory requirements.

Develop, implement, and review care and support plans tailored to children’s individual needs.

Manage a varied caseload, ensuring effective risk management and timely interventions.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court, child protection conferences, and statutory reviews.

Work in partnership with health, education, police, and voluntary sector agencies to deliver coordinated support.

Ensure the voice of the child is central to assessments, planning, and decision-making.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with legislation and council policies.

Contribute to reflective supervision, peer discussions, and service development initiatives.

You are a resilient and motivated social worker with strong safeguarding and assessment skills. You can manage complex cases confidently and are committed to achieving positive and sustainable outcomes for children and families.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Care Wales**.

Post-qualification experience within statutory Children’s Services, including safeguarding and child protection.

Strong knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and relevant legislation.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage complex caseloads while maintaining a child-centred approach.
