Qualified Social Worker – Adults’ Services (Cheshire West and Chester Council)

Job Overview

We are recruiting a dedicated **Qualified Social Worker (QSW)** to join **Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Adults’ Services team**. In this role, you will work with adults who have a wide range of care and support needs, ensuring they are safeguarded, empowered, and able to live independently for as long as possible.

You will manage complex caseloads, carry out statutory assessments, and work in partnership with individuals, families, and external agencies to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

– Complete Care Act 2014 assessments to identify needs, strengths, and risks. – Develop, implement, and review personalised care and support plans. – Lead safeguarding enquiries and ensure risk management procedures are followed. – Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments and contribute to best-interest decisions. – Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for panels, safeguarding reviews, and legal proceedings. – Work collaboratively with health professionals, housing services, and voluntary/community organisations to deliver joined-up care. – Maintain accurate and timely records in line with professional standards and council policies. – Support continuous service development and reflective practice within Adults’ Services.

You are an experienced and compassionate social worker with a commitment to improving the lives of adults in the community. You can manage complex caseloads effectively while maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding and wellbeing. Your ability to engage with individuals, families, and professionals ensures positive and sustainable outcomes.

Requirements

– Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with registration to **Social Work England**. – Post-qualification experience within **Adults’ Services**, including safeguarding and complex casework. – Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legislation. – Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills. – Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise competing demands.
