Pharmacist – Band 7 (Aseptic, Surgical & Medical Wards)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacist to join the NHS as part of a dedicated hospital pharmacy team. This locum role is ideal for a registered pharmacist with recent UK or Republic of Ireland hospital experience, particularly within aseptics, surgical, and medical ward environments.
You’ll contribute to the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of clinical pharmacy services, including aseptic preparation and oncology support in line with BOPA passport (oncology) and haematology standards. Key Responsibilities
– Deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services to surgical, medical, and oncology wards.
– Support aseptic preparation and quality assurance processes within the hospital’s aseptic unit.
– Apply specialist knowledge in oncology and haematology in accordance with BOPA standards.
– Provide clinical screening, medicines optimisation, and therapeutic monitoring to ensure safe and effective treatment.
– Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to promote best practice in prescribing and patient safety.
– Participate in audits, policy development, and clinical governance activities.
– Offer advice, education, and support to healthcare staff and patients regarding medicines use.

You’ll be a detail-oriented and proactive pharmacist with recent hospital-based experience. You’ll bring expertise in aseptic services, ward-based clinical work, and oncology/haematology care. Your strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills will help drive quality and safety across pharmacy services.

Requirements
Essential:
– Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or UK/RoI registration
– Recent relevant hospital experience including aseptics, surgical, and medical wards
– BOPA passport (oncology) and haematology experience
– Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
Desirable:
– Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or related subject
– Previous homecare pharmacy experience
– Experience with oncology homecare pathways and aseptic service management
Contract & Salary
– Contract type: Locum
– Band: Band 7
– Contract length: Ongoing
– Working hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (may vary by rota)
– Location: NHS Hospital (UK-based)
– Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
