Occupational Health Physiotherapist (Part Time)
Job Overview
We’re recruiting an experienced Occupational Health Physiotherapist to join Durham County Council’s Occupational Health Team. This locum role offers an excellent opportunity to use your clinical expertise to support employee wellbeing, providing specialist musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment, treatment and workplace advice.
You’ll play a key role in delivering proactive, evidence-based physiotherapy interventions and guiding managers on reasonable workplace adjustments to promote health, safety and productivity across the Council’s workforce.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct detailed MSK assessments using a range of clinical techniques and diagnostic tools.
– Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy treatment in line with CSP and NICE guidelines.
– Develop tailored, individualised treatment programmes and lead group exercise or education sessions.
– Manage MSK referrals and provide specialist advice on workplace assessments and adjustments.
– Offer professional guidance to employees and managers on work and non-work-related musculoskeletal issues.
– Support wider health promotion and wellbeing initiatives across the Council.
– Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with DCC policies and professional standards.
– Provide training and education to multidisciplinary team members where required.
– Participate in clinical audit, governance, and supervision to ensure high-quality, safe practice.
About You
You’ll be an HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with a strong background in MSK and occupational health. You’ll have excellent clinical reasoning skills and experience working with adult clients to promote functional recovery and sustainable workplace participation. A confident communicator and problem-solver, you’ll thrive in a collaborative environment where employee wellbeing is at the heart of service delivery.
Requirements
– Degree in Physiotherapy (or equivalent qualification)
– Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
– Proven experience in MSK physiotherapy, ideally within an occupational health or workplace setting
– Sound knowledge of current CSP and NICE guidelines
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with staff and management
– Experience providing advice on workplace assessments and reasonable adjustments
– Excellent record-keeping and organisational skills
