Act on behalf of Durham County Council to lead on complex child protection, looked after children, and court cases, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and children’s welfare is prioritised.
Provide professional support and mentoring to less experienced social workers and students, promoting high standards of reflective, strengths-based, and child-centred practice.
Undertake and oversee complex assessments, care planning, and risk management, ensuring the child’s voice is central and interventions are evidence-based and outcome-focused.
Prepare and quality-assure high-level reports for child protection conferences, looked after reviews, and court proceedings, ensuring compliance with legal and council standards.
Collaborate effectively with multi-agency partners across health, education, and legal services to deliver integrated and timely responses to safeguarding and support needs.
Contribute to service improvement and quality assurance, including case audits, reflective learning, and supporting a culture of continuous development within Durham County Council’s Children’s Services.
