Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct complex statutory assessments for children and families on behalf of West Berkshire Council, ensuring compliance with legislation such as the Children Act 1989/2004.

  • Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and protection plans within West Berkshire Council’s framework, promoting safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

  • Manage a complex caseload while providing guidance, support, and informal supervision to junior social workers and trainees in West Berkshire Council’s children’s services team.

  • Take a lead role in safeguarding processes for West Berkshire Council, including attending strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and court proceedings.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners (health, education, police, and others) to ensure coordinated and effective support for children at risk as part of West Berkshire Council’s integrated approach.

  • Maintain accurate, timely case records and reports in accordance with Social Work England standards and West Berkshire Council’s policies.
