Key Responsibilities:
Lead and conduct complex statutory assessments for children and families on behalf of West Berkshire Council, ensuring compliance with legislation such as the Children Act 1989/2004.
Develop, implement, and review child-centred care and protection plans within West Berkshire Council’s framework, promoting safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.
Manage a complex caseload while providing guidance, support, and informal supervision to junior social workers and trainees in West Berkshire Council’s children’s services team.
Take a lead role in safeguarding processes for West Berkshire Council, including attending strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and court proceedings.
Collaborate with multi-agency partners (health, education, police, and others) to ensure coordinated and effective support for children at risk as part of West Berkshire Council’s integrated approach.
Maintain accurate, timely case records and reports in accordance with Social Work England standards and West Berkshire Council’s policies.
